Palworld Offers More Than Just ‘Pokémon Armed with Firearms’
If you’re a gamer and haven’t been living under a rock, you know about Palworld and how popular it has become since its launch just weeks ago on January 19th. In fact, the game has broken many records and is now the most successful third-party release in Xbox GamePass history. According to reports, the game has sold a whopping 19 million copies in total on Steam and Xbox.
But for those of you who aren’t in the know, Palworld is a survival game developed by Japanese indie game maker Pocketpair. Like the Pokémon games, it has creatures called “buddies” that you can catch. It has many similarities with Pokémon, from the appearance of the creatures to how they are kept in the “Paldeck”. Simply put, it’s a mix of different playstyles, and in doing so, it looks odd in many ways, including the perspective of your Pals’ submachine guns.
In addition to capture mechanics, crafting and survival are essential parts of the core experience. You can assign tasks to your friends, among other things. Think of it as a Nintendo game inspired by a Pokémon that never existed, enhanced with exciting mechanics and elements that provide a delightful gaming experience.
The developer thanks the fan for the response, as Nintendo notices
– The feedback from the fans has been incredible. It’s amazing to see millions of players around the world enjoying Palworld,” said Takuro Mizobe, CEO of Pocketpair. Meanwhile, Nintendo had to acknowledge the existence of Palworld at some point. Nintendo has announced that it will take appropriate action if content is found in the game that violates its original content rights.
